Plot and Lessons from Anime Dr. Stone
February 13, 2021

Hi friends,

This past week, I was interested in watching an anime called ‘Dr. Stone’. Now I would like to tell the plot and, ultimately the lesson I’ve got from that anime.

Plot

Dr. Stone is a story about a genius scientist who was ‘reborned’ again after becoming a stone for 3700 years. The 1st episode started with the background where there was a mysterious thing happened and make all the human become stone. Fast forward to 3700 year again, for some reason, this mad scientist can escape from this ‘stone’ curse which keep him from moving. When he woke up, he realised that the world has completely changed. The mysterious incident 3700 years ago has wiped all the advancement of technology and other luxury thing. Now, human entered into stone period again! The good news is this main character is genius so that he can restart the civilisation again. He started to create house, weapon, etc.

The story then continue when this Dr. Stone found a way to revive stone human back to live again. However, the problem happened when the strong human is revived and want to control the world. This strong human and villain has a vision to create a nation without the advancement of science and technology. They even don’t mind to kill human that they think will not benefit to their nation. This Villain has tried to kill Dr. Stone because of a different perspective on technology. But, for some reason, Dr. Stone can escape from that death.

The main plot basically is about the race between Dr. Stone and this Villain to create a nation.

Lessons

  1. Take the technology for granted.
I noticed that when seeing the condition where the Dr. Stone need to build everything from scratch again. Although, he is a genius one, he still have a difficulty to find the material and tool that can help him. Nowadays, we have every tool and material we need. We basically can create everything easily from scratch compared to the stone era. We must not take the advancement and that ‘luxury’ for granted!
  2. Teamwork is important.
This anime teach us an important part of human teamwork. At some point, Dr. Stone notice that he can’t keep doing this alone. He need someone who can help him and together rebuild the civilisation. Fast forward, he managed to create a small team who help him to create a new technology and other useful stuff for mankind. With the good teamwork, they can create something that is impossible to create if they work alone. This valuable trait also applies to us today. We always need someone who can help us and make us grow. A team is better than a lone wolf!
  3. Everyone has their own strength and weakness
Interesting part of anime was when Dr. Stone realised that he was so weak. He can’t do an activity which requires him to do physical activity. That’s why he need someone with better physical who can help him with the physical activity. This is a very good analogy. I truly believe that everyone has their own strength and weakness. There is no such perfect person without any weakness. That’s why we always need someone who can help us with that weakness. That’s what a team for. This lesson #3 is also related with lesson #2 where teamwork is important.
